The Benefits to Solar Water Heating

Essentially, there are three main benefits to switching over to solar water heating. First of all, you are reducing your C02 emissions. Heating your house is a major factor in your yearly carbon dioxide emissions. Once you have installed your solar water heaters they do not pollute at all. Not only are you stopping C02 emissions, but you are also avoiding nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxides and other air pollution and waste created by other power generating options.

Once the solar panels are attached to your roof, they collect the solar energy free, so your power bills are reduced greatly.

Thirdly, solar heating offers several buying incentives from most governments around the world. Just go to the website of your local government to find out if your government offers any incentives for the installation of solar collectors.

The Disadvantages to Solar Water Heating

One immediate concern for consumers or businesses considering this heating option is the initial set-up costs. Some solar heating options are not compatible with current radiators, adding an additional installation expense. You'll have to ensure that your roof is situated correctly to install solar collectors, and also make sure it's reinforced if necessary, to handle the additional weight of the solar panels. During the winter, there won't be as much heat, and you'll have to supplement with traditional fossil-fueled power to a greater degree. Lastly, in areas without consistent natural light, heating can be inconsistent.
